Arts of Java

Java island is one of the biggest islands in Indonesia. Other big islands in Indonesia are Sumatra, Borneo (Kalimanatan), Celebes (Sulawesi) and The West Papua (Irian Jaya). Java island is the densest population among others since the capital city is located in, also the infrastructures are the most complete one.

Java island is divided into five ethnic groups; Betawinese, Sundanese, Javanese, Madurese, Tenggerese. They have their own characteristics in cultures, languages, and arts. Javanese is the most populated community with different dialogues. 
Yogyakarta (located in Central Java island) is one of the examples which preserve the cultures and traditional ways that centralize in the Sultan's Palace. Yogyakarta Sultan's Palace has a King who maintains the Java system within the Palace, and applied to the locals to take a part within the traditional activities and ceremonies.
